OC Curriculum for Orthodontic Specialist

Dr. Chan has recommended for those orthodontic specialists who interested in learning the Principles of Gneuromuscular Dentistry and Orthodontics take the following first before moving into the OC Orthodontic curriculum:

Level 1 – ADVANCED PRINCIPLES OF PHYSIOLOGIC OCCLUSION  
Finding the physiologic Bite to begin diagnose and comprehensive treatment between the mandible and maxillary arches is foundational for every clinician to understand and identify.  Learning the physiologic occlusal principles and how to use the Myomonitor TENS to capture an “Optimal Bite” – A starting position for every clinician is introduced.

Level 2 - ADVANCED DIAGNOSTIC PRINCIPLES
Learning an in depth protocols how to comprehensively diagnose the masticatory system and learn forensic data gathering process to keep the dentist from getting into trouble.  Using the orthotic appliance as a diagnostic aid as well as understanding the basics in radiographic and scan analysis is also introduced as key principles in understanding and implementing the gneuromuscular principles.

Level 3 - ADVANCED TREATMENT PLANNING
Occlusal implementation and management concepts to effectively treatment plan and sequence restorative and orthodontic treatment begins with an appreciation of addressing 1) the cervical dysfunction problem, 2) TMJ primary problem, 3) Class II Division 2 type problem, and 4) Anterior open bite problem.  A comprehension of these common problems must be properly understood by all NM clinicians when prescribing the appropriate orthotic design with the correct lab prescription in order to begin an effective means to the stabilization process at the next level of comprehensive treatment.

Level 4 - INTRODUCTION TO MICRO OCCLUSION/ CORONOPLASTY
The gneuromuscular clinician and specialist learns how to PROPERLY design, construct, managed the occlusion of an anatomical lower ORTHOTIC.  Key principles of proprioception and occlusal management as they relate to orthopedic jaw positioning management is foundational for every GP and specialist desiring to advanced their understanding and skills in the neuromuscular science and micro details.  Proven micro management principles of gneuromuscular occlusion and mandibular positioning along the neuromuscular trajectory is key to effective to maxillo-mandibular  jaw management.

Once the Orthodontist has taken these FOUNDATIONAL AND KEY courses he/she is qualified to take OC's more advanced Ortho curriculum Ortho 1, 2, 3.
